Study to Assess Students’ Readiness for Online Learning at Higher Education Level

This study intends to assess the readiness of university students in Punjab, Pakistan for online classes in context of Coronavirus outbreak. Nations are suffering economically and socially and Pakistan is no exception. However, to save students’ precious time, online teaching is being adopted worldwide. Developed countries quickly implemented the new mode of teaching while developing countries are still struggling to provide quality education. Therefore, the objective of this study is to know about up to what extent, university students in Punjab, Pakistan are equipped for online learning and to see whether information technology infrastructure is not enough for online learning. Also, the aim of the study is to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the students' readiness in online learning and their different proficiency level in computer handling. This study is descriptive in nature and results are based on quantitative analysis of data. Student’s readiness for on-line education implementation was assessed by a questionnaire. Data analysis was done by descriptive statistics and inferential analysis by tests of association using the Pearson chi square test. Analysis of results found a significant relationship between the readiness of higher education students, graduate students, and post-graduate students from public and private universities to apply E-learning.
