Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study is to analyze the government initiatives in the form of “Drug Free Peshawar” to limit access to illicit drugs and illegal drug issues in Peshawar.
Design/Methodology/Approach: Agenda setting, priming and farming theory is used in this study. Qualitative method is used in this study to analyze the data collected from district office Peshawar.
Findings: The results revealed that the pervasiveness of drug abuse among males in the general population is significant. Economic burden, disturbed family environment, violence, and psychological problems are other consequences of drug abuse in the family.
Implications/Originality/Value: The study suggests that to make their efforts fruitful, there is a need for public-private partnerships. The soft spots highlighted during the implementation of the Drug Free Peshawar Project establish that there is still room for improvement in the form of not only increasing the number of rehabilitations centers but also establishing rehabilitation centers in the jails of Peshawar
