Abstract

Social Media plays an imperative role in today's social life and enables societies to learn new information, share ideas and interact. It has transformed the life of people and made communication much easier. Facebook has become the social network site which is the largest virtual zone among university students. The main focus of this study is to observe code switching on Facebook wall since Facebook has turned up as a phenomenal site in online world. This study is to explore the code switching among university students on Facebook walls; it also finds out the reasons of code switching as language is an important tool of communication. Current particular non experimental study contained descriptive objectives. This research study observed the occurrence, frequency and types of language switching and in case of absence of switching; this study identified the dominant code or language on Facebook wall by Pakistani University Students. Furthermore university students mostly use English language for their sharing on Facebook.
