Sri Lankan Ethnic Civilwar, its Root Causes, Analysis and impact on the Society during 2001 – 2010

Tamil Tiger National Movement in Sri Lanka was based on religion, language and ethnic discrimination and these factors were addressed by the Government with some commitments like devolution of power and regional autonomy but due to constitutional constraints, these commitments were not implemented. The conflicts were mostly based on narratives of grievance of two ethnic communities. The purpose of this study is to establish the main reasons behind the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka. The root causes, analysis and compare them with the empirical analysis of similar situation is given in this paper. The analysis is based on the main causes of the conflict, like discrimination in religion, language and in other political decisions. The present study addressed the issues through genuine political participation of Tamil and other minorities. And examine the critical analysis of the civil war root causes and its impact on the civil society of Sri Lanka. This study analyzed long lasting peace solutions in Sri Lanka and outcomes that could be used to solve similar problems in the future.
