Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the mediating effect of media on attitudes and feminism among university girls. The participants of the research consisted of university girls in Pakistan. There were a total of 115 participants. The sample was drawn from a non-probability convenient sampling technique according to the g-power calculator in the study. A correlational research design was used in this study. Multiple statistical analyses were also used to evaluate the data of
university girls from different universities in Punjab. Attitudes, Feminism, and the mediating role of the Media were the main variables. To assess the relationship between these variables among the desired population, the respondents were asked to fill out the Social Networking Usage Questionnaire (Bolar, 2009) and the Attitudes towards Women Scale (AWS) (Spence, Helmreich & Stapp, 1978). The results of this study revealed that all the hypotheses that were made are found accurate enough to explain the correlation between attitudes and feminism among students and that Pakistani media mediates the role of attitudes of university girls towards feminism. Results also show that more educated university girls have a slightly higher level of feminism as compared to less educated university girls. This study raises awareness of factors that affect society due to the increased level of feminism, and it helps to reduce the devastating consequences of
gender inequality. Feminism can be studied with more variables and a wider range of people in future studies.
