Abstract

Purpose: This study explored the linkage between perceived stress, coping strategies, and life satisfaction in type II diabetic patients.
Approach, Methodology, and Design: Data were collected from a non-probability purposive and snowball sample of 170 people (n = 84 males, n = 86 women) with an age range of (M = 50.9 years, SD = 10.2) using a cross-sectional correlational research methodology.
Results: The link between perceived stress, problem-focused coping, and life satisfaction was found to be significantly inverse. Moreover, avoidance coping and problem-focused coping were negatively correlated. It found that avoidance coping had a positive relation with perceived stress and a negative relation with life satisfaction. Additionally, the study discovered that in type 2 diabetic patients, emotion-focused coping served as a partial mediator between perceived stress and life satisfaction.
Implications: The research findings have wider significance outside the domain of diabetes care. They may have an impact on the general comprehension and assistance provided to people who encounter stress and difficulties in many situations. The study emphasizes the need of investigating coping mechanisms as a way to improve life satisfaction in people with chronic illnesses.
