Abstract

Purpose: This study seeks to examine the relationship between the dark triad traits and antisocial behavior among university students and the mediating role of neglectful parenting style.
Design/Methodology/Approach: Participants (N=212) with the age range of 18-25 years were selected by using a convenient sampling method from different universities of Sahiwal and Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The Dark Triad Dirty Dozen Scale (Jonason & Webster, 2010), Adolescence Parenting Attitude Four Factor Questionnaire (Shyny, 2017), and Antisocial Behavior Scale (Cho et al., 2009) were used for the data collection.
Findings: The results showed that the dark triad traits positively correlated to antisocial behavior and neglectful parenting style. Results revealed that neglectful parenting style mediate the relationship between the dark triad traits and antisocial behavior.
Implications/Originality/Value: These results highlight how crucial it is to address parental effects as well as individual personality features to comprehend and lessen antisocial behaviors in adults. Subsequent investigations ought to examine this correlation among heterogeneous groups and consider supplementary environmental variables.
