Abstract

This study investigates the impact of e-government and press freedom on corruption using a sample of 147 countries over the period 2003- 2012. The empirical analysis is based on OLS and 2SLS econometrics techniques. The empirical findings show that press freedom and e-government cannot fight against corruption in their independent capacities. However, the combined effect of e-government and press freedom effectively helps to fight against corruption. Our results are robust to inclusion of different control variables, different econometric techniques and the problem of endogeneity.
