Awareness of Fundamental Rights of Women and Children in Leading Pakistani English and Urdu Newspapers in Democratic and Dictatorial Regimes (2002-2013)

This study examines the coverage patterns of fundamental rights of women and children in Urdu and English newspapers of dictatorial regime General Perviz Musharaf (2002-2008) and democratic regime of Asif Ali Zardari (2008-2013) . The researcher evaluates the awareness news in both newspapers. Quantitative content analysis method was applied in this study, while data was collected from daily Dawn and daily Jang from 2002 to 2013 through purposive sampling method. Coding sheet was used for data collection. The study proved the hypothesis of the study that both newspapers have given more coverage to women rights than children right, whereas, the findings of the research disproved the other hypothesis that both newspapers have given more fundamental rights coverage in the General Pervize Musharraf Period than the Democratic Period.
