More Resources, More Achievement? The Distribution of School Resources and Elementary School Students’ Achievement in Punjab

This study aims at determining the distribution of school resources and elementary school students’ achievement in Punjab. Total 300 school teachers (100 English, 100 Urdu and 100 General Science) 150 males and 150 females and 5202 students (Boys 2674, Girls 2528) from 10 Tehsils were selected conveniently. A personal information sheet (PIS) was used to know the demographic characteristics of teachers and students. Students’ achievement was measured by results of their 8th class examination, 2019 conducted by Punjab Examination Commission (PEC). Multiple statistical measures such as Mann-Whitney test; Kruskal-Wallis test and regression analysis were utilized to explore the effect of school resources on students’ achievement. The study results revealed that several school resources have significant effect on the students’ achievement in the subject of General Science while many of them do not relate significantly in Urdu and English.
