Community Perception towards Social and Economic Impact of Tourism in Bahawalpur District

Abstract

Tourism plays a significant role in the socio-economic development of the economy. This study aims to investigate the perceived socio-economic impact of tourism in district Bahawalpur. Primary data was collected from the residents of district Bahawalpur. A questionnaire is developed and designed by the researchers. 429 responses are gathered from local residents including students, teachers and general population. Primary data is analyzed by using SPSS 20. Descriptive statistics including mean, standard deviation, frequency analysis and regression analysis is used to identify the results of the study. The results show a positive socio-economic impact of tourism in district Bahawalpur. It increases employment; generate multiple business opportunities and generates better opportunities to trade local crafts.
