Juxtaposition of the Technical Solutions to Improve Education in Private Primary Schools: A New dimension of Statistical Application in Quality Function Deployment (QFD)

Abstract

Education in the schools, colleges or in universities can also be improved by using QFD. This paper explains the research conducted to revitalize primary schools education in private sector. Following the QFD methodology, problems in the schools system noticed by parents are called Voice of Parents, (VOP) and technical solutions of VOP are called Solution of the Voice of Parents (SVOP).A real-life data was collected for VOP and transformed into SVOP, then ranking of the SVoPs was computed by quantifying their weights. It is found that SVOP, i.e., ‘well-organized school-parents co-ordination’ is the most important with highest weight, i.e. 42, and ‘Adopt practices to observe religious values’ is second most important with weight of 40. Similarly, ‘transport facility provided by the school’ is the least SVOP with weights 19. Results show that SVOP ‘An organized system of coordination between School and parents’ (with weight 42) is more important than ‘Adopt practices to observe religious values’ (with weight of 40), but statistically both could be of same importance. The aim of this article is to test the difference of the weights of two SVOP by using the methodology developed by Iqbal et al. (2014). This is the first case study application of the developed methodology by Iqbal et al. (2014). This will provide guideline to others education experts and consultant to test the significance of any two technical solutions whether they are equally important or not. If the computed difference is insignificance, they may be treated equally.
